Drama boys

Tell me when did boys get soft? When I was growing up you would never hear a boy complain about stupid issues that is why I was so excited about having a boy and not a girl. I thought that I would get to bypass all the drama! My son is dealing with a friend that is constantly texting him saying that he is mad at him because he heard from someone that my son said bla bla bla! When did little boys turn into little girls? Are we as parents making our children this way? Mind you my son is tired of it and doesn't want to participate in this so I think I am doing my job by teaching him gossiping like this gets you know where! The problem is, is this boy is his History day partner and it has made it very hard to do any work that is why I am getting sooo upset about it. Jake is doing most of the work! I know I shouldn't get involved and for the most part I am staying out and it is hard because I really know how to stop it all together but I will keep it clamped!

In memory of my Grandma

Grandma I love you!

To Those Whom I love & Those Who Love Me

When I am gone, release me, let me go.I have so many things to see and do,You mustn't tie yourself to me with too many tears,But be thankful we had so many good years.

I gave you my love, and you can only guessHow much you've given me in happiness.I thank you for the love that you have shown,But now it is time I traveled on alone.

So grieve for me a while, if grieve you must,Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It is only for a while that we must part,So treasure the memories within your heart.

I won't be far away for life goes on.And if you need me, call and I will come.

Though you can't see or touch me, I will be near. And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear,All my love around you soft and clear.

And then, when you come this way alone,I'll greet you with a smile and a 'Welcome Home'.
Anon.

The Break up

Okay sad new my son was dumped this is a first for me but I think my son handle it rather well. He told me that he had some sad news and that his girlfriend broke up with him but that he was fine with it even more he was happy about it. I guess by that statement it was never meant to be. The only problem I have with it was it was done by text, wouldn't that be as bad a a post it note? I think there could be a slight problem with our children if they don't learn how to communicate in and honest way, what ever happened to talking on the phone. How will they ever learn how do deal with not just the words but how you can look at someone and see there expressions as you are telling them how you feel. Are we creating a world where we deal with everything via e-mail or text. There is a scene in the movie Wallie where Wallie bumps into someone on there flying lounge chair and talks to the person and this person didn't know how to feel about someone actually talking to them face to face not via a screen. Think about it I am saying all this on a blog that someone by chance might read and I don't even get to see your reaction to my comment. You can leave a comment but I don't get to hear you or see you. I was once told by someone that all kids have something that parents don't understand like at one time we did, like hairbands or legwarmers. I personally think that is a cop out and we need to spend more time showing our teens how to talk!

Real or Fake

The question is are you real or Fake? Hummm that sounds like a question about yourself but noooooooo.Do you like a real Christmas Tree or a fake one? This is a debate that seems to go on and on in both sides of the family.
John and I have made it our tradition with our son to always cut one down from a great tree farm in Hugo, Mn just off highway 61 near White Bear Lake (small plug) I wish I could remember what the name was of this place and when we go again on Saturday I will find out and tell you. Anyway this place is great, the past couple of years the price has been $45 for any tree YES any tree that means if you find a 10 foot fir tree it's yours for only $45 anywhere else it would be close to $80 or more. Now that I think about it maybe I won't tell the name, no I will because it might help out Hugo in some way.
Now our other family members who will not be named prefer a fake. Why, you say because of the less mess factor. That my friend is the only reason they ever come up with, so every year they go up to the attic pull the box out full of dust vacuum off the tree and put it together (HO HO HO) then there is the swearing because they can't find the middle branch because the green paint that was suppose to mark it has rubbed off, no great pine smell unless you get the air freshener out and I am sorry but they DON'T LOOK REAL! (HO HO HO)
I under stand going to the local hardware store to pick up the tree isn't very Christmasy but it is real never the less and you are supporting the tree farmers but if you cut your own you are making memories for your kids and yourself and you are supporting your local farms as well. Never have I had a bad experience getting our tree.
Now let me here what you think! Tell me if you are Real or Fake!

Holiday season

Tis the season people! Tis the season for what you say well for fun, family, stories of old days, fires (hopefully in the fireplace), food, parties, friends, laughs, presents, singing (well I do that all the time), religion (what ever it maybe), sledding, car rides to G-parents, snow, snowball fights, receiving cards in the mail, Santa, ooh and those great Holiday T.V. shows (Rudolph, A day with out Santa and any Charlie Brown), crunching of snow under your feet when you walk, pink cheeks on children, mittens by heating vents, MOON BOOTS (if you still have them), yellow snow, Black Friday (why black it should be Green get it the money), the yule log burning on channel (say it with me) Forty Five, and what ever it might be for you, as long as you look on the bright side of life. Remember people this is the time of light, a time when you get together and snuggle and think it can't get better than this!
